Updates• Math Networking – February 9th. Topics will focus on:

Concrete, Representational, Abstract Math; multiplication strategies; Number Talks; building mathematical vocabulary; and opportunities for best practice collaboration. Cost: $20 for lunch and materials. Free for STEM Consortium Members.

• Math Design Collaborative for High School Teachers- Workshop is scheduled for February 18, & 19, & March 20, 2015. Registration open until February 4, 2015. No cost for the first 24 participants! Register soon!

• Nearpod– The IU continues to offer Consortium pricing = $50/teacher/year –OR- $100/teacher/3years. Interested districts may contact me at kgray@ciu10.org for purchasing information. Training will be April 16th. Even if you are only using the free version of Nearpod, you can benefit from the training.

• PSSA Admin Training Session on March 10 in the Clinton Room.

The sessions are 1) 9 AM - 11 AM and 2) 1 PM - 3 PM

Student Opportunities

• K’Nex Design Challenge– We have 11 teams registered– 10 from Clearfield County! There is no cost, except the cost of the kit. Challenge date is set for April 9, 2015. LHUCC has offered to host the event at their campus.

• Elementary Reading Competition – Saturday, March 21,

2015. The deadline to have the forms to Deb Wakefield is February 27, 2015.

• Computer Fair - There are currently only 7 entries with Bald Eagle and CPI participating. Please encourage students to participate. The next computer fair meeting is being held on January 23rd, 2015. The scheduled competition date is March 5th, 2015 with a makeup date of March 12th, 2015.

Project-Based Assessment

• Have any of you started using PBAs?• If so, what questions do you have? • How are you finding time? • Who will be serving as your test

administrator and tutor?

Project-Based Assessment

They are still in need of evaluators. However, at this point, there is no compensation for evaluating completed PBAs.

New projects to be released August 1st – looking for folks to vet the new projects, please let me know if you are interested in helping with ELA, Science, or Math.
