Characteristics of Culture1. Culture is Learned- it is acquired through

experiences that you observe in an environment. *a child who is born in Cebu would have a difficulty in

speaking ilokano

2. Culture is Shared by Group of People -for a certain act to be considered cultural it must

be observed/used/practiced by the common or majority of the population

*Marriage Ceremony, Burial Ceremony

10

3. Culture is Commulative- Knowledge is stored and time will come it will be passed from one generation to the other. and new knowledge will be added by what is existing.

I-Phone I Pad etc

11

4. Culture Change- all cultural knowledge does not perpetually accumulate. At the same time that new cultural traits are added, some old ones are lost because they are no longer useful.

12

5. Culture is Dynamic- no culture is ever in a permanent state. it is constantly changing time by time because of inventions, techniques etc. are added to the ol ways are constantly modified.

-in relation to number3*Before: Basic rosary creed are in Latin

* Present: Basic rosary creeds are translated in English

13

Thus when culture is changing over generations and undergone cultural modification it is called as Cultural Diffusion.

-it diffuses when passed and being added by specialties

14

6. Culture is Ideational- an ideal pattern of behavior of which the members are expected to follow. Man assigns meanings to his environment and symbolizing.
