CRWRC in Haiti

CRWRC has been extensively engaged in both relief and development work since 1975.

CRWRC works with 5 partners in micro-credit, literacy, agriculture, HIV/AIDs awareness and prevention, environmental awareness and community capacity building.

CRWRC has also worked in 8 Haitian relief projects in the last 5 years with US$1 million.

Initial distributions in Port-au-Prince included food for 2066 families and 478 tarps and tents.

CRWRC is now focusing its response in five villages in the Leogane area.

Tarps have been distributed to 1600 beneficiary families.

Through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, 3000 families are receiving a two month supply of rice, black beans and oil.

Over 1400 households in the 5 communities have access to tool kits, and 2000 received cash for hygiene kits and kitchen kits.

1200 transitional houses are being constructed; 83 are erected.

5 wells were drilled and 3 emergency latrines were completed; 3 permanent

latrines and 5 additional wells are being constructed.
