Selecting Elective Courses

Students should review the listing of available elective course offerings listed on the backside of the course selection card.

In-depth descriptions of these courses are found in the High School Program of Studies.

Students will make 1-3 elective course selections. Either 1.0 credit elective of Foreign Language or Ceramics or two .5 credit electives. Students participating in the music program will also select the appropriate music electives.

Elective courses should be chosen with your graduation requirements in mind and based on your interest and future goals.

Elective courses that students select will be entered into the computer and will appear on your Course Selection Verification Sheet. Remember, these are only requests and not a guarantee that you will be placed in this class. Be sure to include “Alternate Selections” on your course selection card.

FOUR-YEAR INDIVIDUAL COURSE SELECTION PLANNING GUIDE

Use this worksheet to plan your program for the four years of high school. Use this space provided to list the courses and credits you will want toe and need to complete for graduation. In completing your worksheet, you will want to consider your future career and educational plans as well as graduation requirements of Upper Merion Area School District. Of equal importance will be the difficulty level of the course as compared to yourn academic ability and degree of motivation. This plan is tentative and subject to change from year to year. Be sure to discuss your plans with yourents and if you have questions or need assistance, see your counselor.
