Phase 3 (Year 5 and 6) Foundation and Creative Subjects

Date: Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May

Once you have completed your daily English, Maths, Reading, SPAG and Spelling work, you can choose one or two activities from these different options.

These activities are designed to last across the week so don’t rush through them.

There are activities for:

● Geography

● French

● Art

1)Try the QUIZ tab in the green bar at the top of the page. Quiz yourself on volcanoes, flags, continents...there are lots of different options!

Select your class and then your name to be added to the class leaderboard! Some of you have been completing lots of these quizzes, well done! Keep up the hard work!

2)If we were at school, we would be starting a new unit of learning about mapping. Maps show us where continents, countries, cities and places are in the

world and help us to navigate our way around an unknown place.

Use the Oddizzi activities here to practise your map skills. To help you find the answers, you can use:

a) Google Maps b) Google Images - search the map type - for example ‘map of

Africa’

Write your answers here - if you copy the table into a Google Doc, you can type straight into the table.

WHAT TO DO:

Keep going with ‘Duolingo’ to practise your French! You can use a phone, tablet, laptop or computer.

If you speak French at home, you could choose a different language and start to teach yourself!

There are lots of different activities and games like:

● listening to a sentence and using the words they give you to translate

● repeating a sentence or phrase to practise your pronunciation

● vocabulary games and activities

● You can play and learn for 15-20 minutes a day but beware...it gets very addictive!

1) We had such a great trip to the Natural History Museum to learn about evolution and fossils and we know how much so many of you enjoyed that topic. 3)Fancy trying an experiment? Fill in the Blog or share a photo with your teacher when you’ve finished!

● Mommy Poppins - This website is full of practical science experiments you can do with things in your house. Always ask a grown up before you use anything from home.

● Maddie Moate and Greg Foot are doing live science sessions everyday on YouTube at 11am. All the programs from last week are there to look at and are saved if you can’t watch it live. There are LOADS so dive in and enjoy! Make sure you write a little blog about what you watched or what you did.

4) There are some brilliant Science podcasts for children - listen to an episode then fill in the Blog to tell your teacher what you learnt about. Lots of them are about understanding the coronavirus:
