Easter is a very old festival.

Easter celebrates the start of Spring

and new life.

Daffodils are the typical flowers in Easter.

Easter is always

between March 22nd

and April 25th.

The first Sunday after the first full moon after March

21st is Easter Sunday.

Many years ago women and girls used new hats called “bonnets”

decorated with flowers.

Today there are bonnets competitions and children design

and make hats at school.

They decorate their hats with Easter decorations.

Chicks, bunnies and eggs are symbols of Easter.

The Easter Bunny is the character that brings chocolate

eggs for children.

Typical Easter games are:

- Egg rolling- Easter egg hunt / Hide and seek- Eggs races

Children roll the eggs down a hill. The last egg to brake is the winner.

Children look for hidden eggs in parks, gardens,… and put them into their

baskets.

Children run in races pushing an egg with a spoon.

The president of the USA invites some children with their families

to play in the White House gardens.

In Great Britain people eat hot cross buns for tea time. They

put butter, jam, cream or chocolate inside.

In many countries people celebrate Easter and colour boiled eggs.

Sometimes they dye the eggs.

In Spain people celebrate Easter and children have a typical chocolate sweet called “mona de Pascua”.

It’s very typical in Cataluña.

In Spain Easter is a national holiday and in Britain too.

Children are on holiday, they don´t go to school. In Spain there are ten days and in Britain there are two weeks.
