Control Panel

The Control Panel is a part of the Microsoft Windows which allows users to view and manipulate basic system settings and user control of software and hardwarefeatures.

User can set preferences, changes & alterations, screen colors & monitor adjustment, modem and mouse configuration, password, fonts, printers installation, date & time setting, networking options etc…

Accessibility Options:

Accessibility option makes a computer easier to use for those who have physical disorders.

It provide options where user can set keyboard, mouse, sound, display and other options as per desire that make Windows XP easy to use.

StickyKeys:

Use sticky keys option if you have trouble pressing two keys simultaneously, such as Ctrl+Alt. Sticky key is press one key option.

Check StickyKeys option and click setting, Select the options you want by selecting or clearing the check boxes. Select OK twice to save the settings.

FilterKeys

It is an accessibility option that adjusts the keyboard response so that repeated keystrokes are ignored.

Using FilterKeys, you can also slow the rate at which a key repeats when you hold it down.

Check StickyKeys option and click on setting button, Select the options here, Select OK twice to save the settings.

ToggleKeys

ToggleKeys is an accessibility feature designed for people who have vision problem or sight weakness.

When ToggleKeys is turned on, your computer will provide sound (beep) when the locking keys (CAPS LOCK, NUM LOCK, or SCROLL LOCK) are pressed.

A high sound plays when the keys are switched on and a low sound plays when they are switched off.

Sound Sentry

SoundSentry is designed for those peoples who have difficulty in hearing sounds being generated by the computer.

SoundSentry allows you to change the settings to generate visual warnings, such as a blinking title bar or a screen flash, whenever the computer you are using generates a sound. You will be able to choose visual warnings (for example, a flashing border) for sounds made by windowed programs and for sounds made by full screen text programs.

Display:

You can choose Display in accessibility options in to help make items on your computer screen easier to see.

Use Large Icons, Hide Underlined letters and choose screen resolution.

Mouse:

Mousekeys in accessibility designed for people who have difficulty using a mouse. MouseKeys allows you to use the numeric keypad to control the movement of the mouse pointer. If you want to use the numeric keypad for data entry as well as for navigation, you can set MouseKeys to be activated by pressing NUM LOCK.

To access MouseKeys settings: Make sure that Use MouseKeys is selected then select Settings.

General:

General options are common approaches of accessibility person, here user can check or uncheck various options

Serial Keys: Use alternate input devices instead of Mouse or Keyboard,

Turn off accessibility feature after specified idle time.

Get Visual notification when turning feature ON or OFF.

Get Sound notification when turning feature ON or OFF etc…

Add Hardware:

The Add Hardware component provides the support to Add a Hardware in Windows operating system.

It starts adding a hardware,

where user can install and

troubleshoot hardware.

Add or Remove Prog:

MS Windows provide the features where user can add, change and remove programmes as well as windows components.

User have option to change or remove installed programmes in the system.

2. Add new Programmes:New programmes can be add either from CD or Internet.

3. Add/Remove Windows Components:Here user can add or remove Windows XP features.

Here user can opt Microsoft or Non-Microsoft Programmes and set other custom environment, by default is set on Microsoft environment.

Administrative Tools:

This folder is used to configure administrative settings for your computer or network.

Date and Time:

Open dialog box set date and time, identify time zone

Display:

Open display properties dialog box in which user can set themes, background color, screen saver, resolutions and other screen display matters.

Folder Options:

It is used to specify either web or classic view for folders, whether single or double click items and options, view of folders and add/delete file types.

Fonts: Open fonts folder,

which display all installed fonts on the system, user can add or delete fonts from the computer.

Game Controllers:

This controller is used to install, configure and test a gamer controller such as joystick or gamepad

Internet Options:

The internet options is mainly used to set all your internet settings.

Keyboard:

This programme is used to set the rate at which keys repeat when hold down, set the cursor blink rate and troubleshoot your keyboard.

Mouse:

Opens mouse properties, where user can set speed of mouse pointer’s motion relative to your hand motion and set the double click speed, also reverse the function of right and left buttons, set the shape.

Network Connections:

This programme is used to

create a new connection, access settings and components of

connections.

Phone & Modem

Options:

The programme is used to establish dialing rules, add/remove and set modem properties connected to your system.

Power Options:

Programme is widely used to set power conservation scheme and set options for how long your computer will sit idle before turning off the monitor and hard drives or hibernation.

Printers and Faxes:

This folder explains the status of Printers and Faxes on your systems, user can modify the property setting for those items.

Regional & Language Options:

This dialog box specify how Window XP display

languages, times, dates, numbers and currency.

Scanners &Cameras:

This dialog box is used to install, configure and troubleshoot cameras and scanners on system.

Scheduled Tasks:

Programme is used to specify when Windows XP perform system maintenance tasks such as, update and cleaning up hard disk.

Click Prog>Accessories>System tools>scheduled tasks, then click on add task and pick the programme for work on.

Sounds & Audio Devices:

This dialog box deals with sounds management where user can add and configure sounds to specific system events, sound schemes, collection of sounds that system uses to alert particular events, also configure audio equipment on your system.

Speech:

This dialog box is used to control the settings for text to speech translation.

SystemIt is the properties of system.

Programme displays information about system devices, RAM, type of processor, environment settings, user profiles, hardware profiles and startup configuration.

General: Basically this tab shows us hardware as well software information of the system.

System

Computer Name: this tab relating to network configuration and deals with computer description, computer name and workgroup on network.

Hardware: It is hardware relating and provides Device Manager, System Drivers and Hardware profile.

Advanced: This is tab contain the setting of system performance, user profiles and error reporting options.

System

Remote: Again this feature relates to networking and provide remote assistance and remote desktop features, using this options administrator can make changes at clients PCs.

Automatic Updates: Microsoft otters updates to its licenses copies, here user can set time and other updating offers for newly updates.

System Restore: In case of hang or struck-up, PC can be restored to its previous stages, this is used to track restore data in back dates.

Taskbar &

Start Menu:

Open taskbar and start menu properties where user can customize the appearance of the taskbar and change setting of start menu.

User Accounts:

Here user can create, rename, create and remove the password, change picture and account type

Windows Firewall:

Windows Firewall protects your computer by blocking communications from dangerous or unwanted softwares trying to find a way to connect to your computer

It is a protective boundary that monitors and restricts information between your computer and a network or the Internet.

provides a line of defense against someone who might try to access your computer without your permission.

Wireless Network setting:

It is regarding home or public wireless networks setting. Wireless networks are remote networking or communication using Radio waves.

Its connection is being implemented from ISP and get necessary hardware to connect your PC to Internet.
