Construction!
How I used equipment/what I learnt about it/ what I learnt about it in relation to my production work.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 and
Gimp, Snow Leopard
I used both of these programs to edit my photos, text and titling for all my
production work. It was however mainly for my poster and website. I used both of
them because they are both easy to use and can be used for editing and Photoshop
costs and I did not have it on my computer at home so installed Gimp, Snow
leopard to use instead.
I have learnt pretty much everything about these two programs seen as I have
never used them since the beginning of this year when we used them for our
coursework. And in terms of my production work, I would probably say that I have
learnt how to edit pictures and making them look even better than the original
picture and I have also learnt that there is a simpler to edit something in Photoshop
than I think.
Da Font.com
I used Da Font.com which is a website on the internet to create different fonts types for
my titling and tagline etc. in which I used in both my poster and website.
I learnt from Da Font.com that you are able to have lots of different fonts and that you
should think creatively about what sort of font you want and wanna create. In terms of
my production work I learnt that it quite simple to find a font which you like but it has to fit
in with the horror genre and fit with the type of horror film you want to create as well.
Weebly and Twitter.
I used weebly to create my website which was to promote our horror trailer. I learnt that
it is quite simple to create a website when you know how, at first I did really struggle in
creating something that did look good, so I asked my friend to give us a lesson in
HTML coding and this help me a lot. So, I’ve also probably learnt it might look simple
but the hard part is creating something that looks good. I learnt that in relation to
production work that to get your creative idea on a website is hard and you have to
have room to change that idea you original have in the long run.
I used twitter as a real account of my film production team, and then I embed it into my
website. I learnt that twitter is not a social network for me or my friends but it is a way
in which we can connect with anyone and find out new information. In relation to my
production work I learnt that it makes it more update with today society and technology
and I thought it also looked really good on the website.
Sony VX2000 DV Camera
I used the Sony VX2000 DV camera to film the our trailer. I learnt all about it at the
beginning of this process for example, how to white balance and how important this
is. As well, how to record, create certain shots from it. In relation, for production
work everything I have mentioned above in relevant but I probable learnt in relation
to the production work was probably to be careful when it comes to a shot not
being blurring, making sure to hold the camera steady and how easily you can redo
a shot if it does in fact become blurry.
Audio Technica Telemic and Boom mic
I used this in relation to my horror trailer, these two things interlink to create a
microphone in which we used to record our sound for the horror trailer.
I learnt how important this is to the trailer and that you need to place in quite
close that you can get a very good sound quality. As well, that you have to be
careful very careful in fact not to get it in a shot because then it ruins the
whole shot and you must redo the shot. All this is in relation to my horror
trailer.
Libec Tripod
I used the tripod for keeping the Sony VX200 DV camera on. It keeps the camera
steady whilst filming and you are able to move it in order to create different types of
shots.
I learnt that it is important to make sure the camera is safely on the tripod otherwise
the camera cans easily slip and break. In relation to my production work I learnt
that it really does make a difference to a shot having the camera placed on the
tripod you do not get that shaky moment. As well, it help us to do all different types
of shots for our trailer.
