The intent of the Educational Studies Minor is to provide a clearer understanding of the purpose and function of education, and the social and psychological forces that affect young people.

This minor is not intended to lead to teacher certification.

15 Credits from four program areas

Disabilities in Society Minor

Designed for undergraduate students in all majors

Enhances knowledge of disabilities and the impact disabilities have on the lives of people who experience them, and on the people with whom they live and interact.

Focuses on types of disabilities, how disabilities are perceived in society, ways people with disabilities are included in recreational, leisure, employment, educational, and other community activities, and legal aspects of disability policies.

This minor is not intended to lead to teacher certification.

Florida Teaching Minor

This is an alternative certification program, specifically a Professional Training Option (PTO), meant to prepare students for temporary teacher certification in Florida.

Participants will receive pre-professional level training in the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices.

Professional teacher certification is attainable after one year of successful teaching in a Florida public school and completion of additional requirements.

18 credits

UFTeach Math Minor

Designed for math majors who wish to teach mathematics at the middle school and high school level in Florida.

This is an alternative certification program, specifically a Professional Training Option (PTO), meant to prepare students for temporary teacher certification in Florida.

Participants receive pre-professional level training in the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices.

Professional teacher certification is attainable after one year of successful teaching in a Florida public school and completion of additional requirements.
