Collage Mixed Media Art What is a collage? A piece of art made
by sticking various different materials such as photographs and
pieces of paper or fabric onto a backing. Drawing or collage 2

shaped human figures cut from bright paper and pasted to a

The Snail Positive & negative space
When making a collage, it is just as important to look at the
NEGATIVE space, as well as the POSITIVE space. In this Matisse
artwork, the black and white cutouts are the positive spaces. The
orange, pink, blue and green rectangles are the negative spaces.

like? How to make a collage The backing for your collage should be
heavier cardstock, tagboard or cardboard. No larger than 12 x 18.
Cardboard is in the back corner. Smaller blue board is at Paper
Crafts Use small scraps from the paper closet. Look for textures
and patterns. Cut papers into shapes. Use the correct glue to place
onto the collage. Place on drying rack. Collage rules When using
bottled glue, use a dot, not a lot. Recap glue sticks. Make sure
everything is glued on securely. Dont cut out of the middle of the
paper. Please throw away scraps smaller than your thumb! No one
else wants to use them. Return all supplies to the proper place.
assessment I used emphasis on one area to draw in the viewers eye.
I used more than 3 colors. I glued all pieces carefully and the
completed collage isflat and smooth. I used these techniques:
