Teaching our future railroaders In 2012, CN Campus’ journey began. It grew, from the foundation, to the atrium, to class-rooms – becoming a state-of-the-art training facility. This month, the CN team was proud to cele-brate it. The 100,000 square-foot facility had its grand opening this month, bringing industry and com-

munity leaders, dignitaries and rail-roaders together. Claude Mongeau, president and CEO of CN, cut the ribbon alongside Jim Vena, CN’s executive vice-president and chief operations officer; Robert Pace, chairman of CN’s Board of Directors; Daryl Reid, MLA for Winnipeg’s Transco-na neighbourhood

and speaker; Law-rence Toet, MP for Elmwood-Transcona and Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz. The ribbon fluttered to the floor, ushering in a new era of CN railroad-ers. Where past and future intersect in Winnipeg’s Transco-na neighbour-hood – you’ll find CN Campus. The railway’s rich history

in the west is tied to Winnipeg, where CN has had a mechan-ical shop for over a century. Now, a new gener-ation has ties to the city. CN Campus, a $35-million invest-ment, opened in April to students and has since seen more than 500 new conductors complete

their training. Future railroaders come from across the country for hands-on experience and classroom learning. The facility is symbolic of CN’s commitment to op-erational and service excellence and deliv-ering responsibly.
