4 EVERY ANNUAL CONFERENCE GETS AFAIR SHARE OF THE GLOBAL BUDGET.OUR GENERAL COUNCIL ON FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION (GCFA)DETERMINES HOW MUCH IS APPORTIONED TO EACH CONFERENCEBASED ON A FORMULA THAT INCLUDES FACTORS LIKE MEMBERSHIP,ECONOMICS, ETC.

5ANNUAL CONFERENCE INCLUDESITS SHARE OF THE GLOBAL UMCMISSION IN THEIR CONFERENCEBUDGET PROPOSAL.

YOUR CONFERENCE HAS GOALS FOR MISSION AND  PREPARES ABUDGET TO SUPPORT THOSE GOALS; INCLUDED IS THEAPPORTIONED SHARE OF THE BUDGET FOR THE GLOBAL UMC.

CONFERENCE BUDGET ISAPPROVED AT ANNUAL SESSION.MEMBERS FROM EVERY CHURCH/CHARGE HAVE THEOPPORTUNITY TO EXAMINE, QUESTION AND DEBATEBEFORE THEY VOTE ON A CONFERENCE MISSION ANDBUDGET THEY BELIEVE THEIR CHURCH CAN SUPPORT.

7 EACH CHURCH RECEIVES A FAIR SHAREPORTION OF THE CONFERENCE BUDGET.YOUR CONFERENCE COUNCIL ON FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION USES AFORMULA - APPROVED AT AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE SESSION - TODETERMINE EACH LOCAL CHURCH/CHARGE'S FAIR SHARE PORTION OFCONFERENCE BUDGET. THIS AMOUNT IS INCLUDED IN YOUR LOCALCHURCH BUDGET, WHICH ALLOWS YOUR CHURCH TO MAKE AN IMPACTLOCALLY, ACROSS THE CONFERENCE, AND AROUND THE WORLD.

The terms "mission shares" or"ministry shares" do a much better jobof describing what our connectionalgiving does. They heal the sick, feedthe hungry, educate young people,provide comfort in the wake ofdisasters, and so much more.  

"FRANCHISE FEE"Yes, the cross and flame is a well known brand and trademark.No, it is not something sold to a congregation to promote theirreligious offerings as better than others. It is a symbol of ourcommitment to work together in connectional relationships inorder  to more effectively make disciples for Jesus Christ. 

"MONEY LOSTFROM MISSION"

Some local churches view apportionmentsas money taken from their church's missionbudget. In reality, participation inconnectional giving gives every church,regardless of size, a larger mission footprint.

APPORTIONMENTS ARE:COMPASSION,JUSTICE,MERCY,ACCOUNTABILITYAND HOPE.

Africa University is one excellent example ofwhat United Methodists are able toaccomplish through faithful support ofapportionments. With a current student bodyof over 2500 full and part-time students (54%of whom are female) that come from 25countries across Africa, we are makingdisciples who are transforming the world!Thanks to the faithful apportionment supportof your local church, we have graduated morethan 8000 students who go on to be leaders intheir countries and the world, and arechanging the face of Africa!
