● Apprenticeship programs can be found at https://www.dir.ca.gov/databases/das/aigstart.asp
○ Electricians, Pipefitters/Plumbers, Line Workers, Automotive Mechanic, HVAC Installers, etc.
○ Apprenticeship programs must be applied for and you earn money working during the day and go to classes in evening a few nights / week.
● Some private training schools offer training programs at a cost and financial aid may apply

● Apply in Spring (applications open Feb/March)

Community Colleges
● Each Community College has different options concerning Certificate Programs and Associate Degrees.

Transfer to 4 Year
● Make appointment with Transfer Center at the college when you start to make sure your classes will transfer.
● Transfer agreements with CSUs and UCs○ (TAG not offered for UCB, UCLA, UCSD)
● AA-T/AS-T: A student who has earned one of these degrees will be given priority admission consideration to the local CSU campus in a similar program.

SAT/ACT SCORE REPORTING
● It is the students responsibility to report their scores to the colleges! (most colleges want scores by December!)
● You get 4 FREE reports at the time of registration.● CSU / UC’s: send scores to 1 CSU & 1 UC and they
will share with other campuses to which you apply.(CSU 3594 code for ALL CSUs)
● Most colleges will use the best scores so do not hesitate to send all scores.
● Provide your Collegeboard & ACT ID number (ID on PDF score reports - will count as official)

Common App & Coalition App
● Apply to multiple colleges via 1 website
● Common App is primarily Private Schools
● Coalition App is a mix of both Private & Public Schools
● We will send all materials, including Transcripts and Letters of Rec through Naviance. You must match Common App acct w/Naviance.
● When you add the school to “Colleges I’m Applying To”, you will need to choose how you are applying:○ Common Application or○ “Direct to Institution” for Coalition
Early Action/Early Decision
● Applies to Private Schools only
● Apply by mid-October, know acceptance by February
● Early Action: No commitment upon admission○ Student can apply to multiple schools as EA applicant
● Early Decision: Commitment ONLY to that school; all other applications are withdrawn
Letters of Recommendation
● Required by private schools and most scholarships
● You must request letters via Naviance(Teachers)
● If the school requires “Counselor Written Evaluation”, you must complete the Counselor Recommendation Packet, located in the SSC or on our webpage. Attach your brag sheet.
● Provide recommenders at least three weeks to prepare letter
○ Tip: Give teachers a brag sheet
FERPA Waiver- Common App Matching
● FERPA: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. All applicants complete the FERPA waiver from within their Common App account. Must complete this in order for Counselors to submit documentation( letter, school report, transcript) Complete Education

● If you qualify for Free or Reduced lunch you will be eligible for a fee waiver.○ UCs and CSUs compute this in the application based on

1.Complete your list in colleges I’m applying to. Keep in mind that Naviance is NOT an Application tool, rather it is a Management tool. You will still need to apply to the colleges through specific
