All of the floorcovering in the PAWS house is vinyl fiber floor. The base cove is rubber, sealed top and bottom to prevent moisture from getting to the plaster walls. Thereby preventing a place to harbor mold and/or bacteria.

This is the back bedroom that will become PAWS intake room (Cat rooms 8 and 9).

The plaster was in need of some repairs . Then the room was painted and new triple pane vinyl windows were installed.

Bathroom after remodeling.

After removing all the plastic tile and the bath tub, the walls were covered with fiberglass panels, floor covered in vinyl fiber floor covering with rubber cove base.

PAWS repurposed some of the cabinetry at the old adoption center and uses it for storage.

Before

Old laundry room. Needed plaster repair and redirection of water pipes.

The laundry room was painted, new window and shelving installed. PAWS moved the washer and dryer from the former Adoption Center and purchased a used 3 bowl stainless steel wash tub with a commercial sprayer installed.

PAWS soaks litter boxes, scoops and plastic cat toys in the

first sink using disinfectant, then items are moved to the 2nd sink for rinsing and then to the 3rd sink for air drying.

Work room before it became the PAWS office.

Old work room converted to new PAWS office.

With the dedication of past and present board members and volunteers, and the trust placed in us by our generous donors, Clarion PAWS has stayed the course in our quest for a time when there will be no more homeless pets. Unfortunately, our current location just wasn’t fitting our needs and due to the current economic climate we knew it would be too difficult to raise the kind of funds needed to build the state of art adoption facility we all dream about, so we did the next best thing and purchased a house with about an acre of property on Clarion River Hill (Route 322, near Clarion Electric and Scrap Happy), and remodeled it to suit our needs. Although the house isn’t any larger than our current location, the layout and ample windows will allow us to better house our residents by separating them into smaller groups based on their personalities. During their visit with us, while waiting for their forever homes, our residents will be able to enjoy the sunlight of a dreamy afternoon, watch the leaves turning colors or see flakes of white snow from their window perch. They may even catch a glimpse of a bird in flight, a chipmunk racing across the grass or a beautiful cardinal perched on a snow covered tree branch. Clarion PAWS’ original mission was to become a shelter/adoption center for both cats and dogs, however thanks to our fellow rescue groups, Clarion PUPS and Tri-County Animal Rescue there is now help available for the homeless and abandoned dogs of Clarion County. Thankfully their existence will allow us to concentrate our efforts on the tremendous number of homeless and abandoned cats and kittens (feral and friendly) in Clarion County by continuing to accept only felines into our adoption program.
