Anna Hazare’s real name: Kisan Baburao Hazare

Where does he belong to?

Ralegan Siddhi, a village in Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra 87 km from Pune. He lives in a small room attached to the Sant Yadavbaba temple in Ralegan Siddhi since 1975. He doesn’t stay at his home though it is in same village.

What went into making Ralegan Siddhi a self reliant village?

Ralegan Siddhi is a model of environmental conservation. Since Anna Hazare stepped-in in 1975, the village has carried out programmes like treeplanting, terracing to reduce soil erosion and digging canals to retain rainwater. The village uses solar power, biogas and a windmill. 36 years old now it is a sustainable model of a village republic. The village's biggest accomplishment is in non-conventional energy.Hazare organised the youth of the village into an organisation named the Tarun Mandal (Youth Association) to get the following task done.

What is the net worth of this man?

On April 16, 2011, he declared his bank balance of Rs - 67,183/- and Rs- 1,500/- as money in hand. He owns 0.07 hectares of family land in Ralegan Siddhi which is being used by his brothers. Two other pieces of land donated to him by the Indian Army and by a villager, have been donated by him for village use. He is receiving pension from Indian army from where he took voluntary retirement.
