Some random thoughts by the pastor…
Trust is integral to who we are! Therefore, when trust
is damaged or called into ques'on (because of abuse
or neglect), lost beneath many successes, concerns
and fears, we are less than God creates us to be. Each
of the readings this weekend speaks to this necessary
trust. Isaiah declares: ‘Can a mother forget her infant,
be without tenderness for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget, I will never forget you.’ God
can’t forget us and s'll be God. Paul is unconcerned
with being judged because he knows that God’s
jus'ce is mercy (‘for he will bring to light what is
hidden in darkness and will manifest the mo ves of
our hearts, and then everyone will receive praise from
God.’) Finally, Jesus says that trust is our true guide.
‘You cannot serve God and mammon.’ When we are
guided by trust we tend to worry less about our lives
because trust happens to us and we are freer to
permit God to sustain us. God is good.
Parish updates: The inspec'on of the (northwest)
flat roof on the church building led those inspec'ng to
suspect that the metal that was used on the joint is
the problem and will replace the metal with a
rubberized joint. We will see …. Ash Wednesday is
on March 1st
. Ashes will be distributed (only) during
the 9:00 (am) Mass and the 7:00 (pm) Mass.
