Child labour in Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist is also one of the best example of it, as he sometimes became violent under the effect in his behaviour, but we could see changes in his behaviour when he was lived with Mr. Brownlow, Oliver was talking in a good manner and also we first see that he was enjoying his child hood there. Through all these incidents, Dickens had showed that child is after all children either he is victim of child labour or a child who is living normal life as child must live. The dreams and enjoyment of all children are same, they all want to play, but unfortunately, some cannot enjoy it.

Generally, the children and poor and also orphan are become the victim of Child Labour, during the age of Victorian Industrial Child Labour was at the top, and the rule of that factory was that, Most children began working at year of age and were not allowed to leave the factory until they were 21. The Children had to sign contracts called indentures that virtually made them the property of the factory owner. The Novel of Dickens ‘Oliver Twist’ is also written under the influence of this problem.

In many of his novels, Dickens criticized the Victorian society for the ill-treatment of the poor and social stratification that existed during this period. He opened the eyes of readers to the plight of children who were subjected to child labour and he was successful partly due to the fact that he had personally been involved in child labour and was able to give his Readers a vivid image of what it was like for those unfortunate children.
