This law increas ed protections for Ka nsa s childrenand supports families in making informed child carechoices. Since the passage of Lexies Law, KDHE hasfocused on transitioning all existing registered homesto licensed, as t he la w elimi nated the registeredfamily day care home category.
Lexies Law requi res th e Child Care Licensi ngProgram to develop additiona l hea lth, safety, andsupervision regulations for the protection of children.

The PlaygroundOpened in 2010, the Playground is
Child Starts online community thatallows parents, providers, community,and Child Start staff to interact,sha re information and stories, andlea rn about local events.
Currently, the Pla yground hasover 150 members and rece ives anaverage of 300 visits a month.

Growing With Children & Directors Chair Conferences
Child Care Aware and Early ChildhoodDirectors Orga nization (ECDO) come togetherto bring the largest annual early childhoodconference in K ansas. This is Child CareAware of South Central Kansa ss an nualfundraiser.
Over 300 early childhood professionalsattended the 2010 Growing With Childrenand Directors Chair Conference. This event
offered 27 se ssions for attendees to choosefrom.
Over $8,000 was raised from this event forChild Care Aware.

Child Care Aware of Kansa s is the admin istrator of the statewide ChildCare Resou rce and Referra l (CCR&R) network in Kansa s. They supportfamilies and early childhood professionals all across Kansas through the localCCR&Rs.
