Cheerios

Cheerios wants to create an
advertisement that will make people want to buy Cheerios.
Half of the team members in the advertising group want to do a traditional campaign, like TV. The others want to advertise Cheerios with a new demographic that will include the social network.
The conflict
The members can compromise and do both a
TV ad and make an ad on Google. Or they could just do the ad on Google. Or they could just make the ad for the TV
Possible Solutions
Compromise: We would get more
attention for Cheerios because people who watch TV could see it and people on Google will see it too.
Google: We could have a lot of attention or not. Google is worldwide so it could bring a lot of attention, but from experience a lot of people usually ignore ads on Google, so it might not get a lot of attention.
TV: We could get a lot of attention because extras show very often, but there a lot of channels that we could do our ads on but we only have the money to do one channel.
Possible outcomes
As a team member, I would pick Google
because I think the time has come for new demographic advertisement. Also Google is worldwide and I think that will bring Cheerios a lot of attention.
As a team member
I would really push for a
compromise, all though we have to spend more money, I think it is really worth it. People will be forced to watch it on TV and people will see it worldwide on Google too.
As a Manager
There are 5 steps to solve a conflict, and that is how we
solved the conflict. First make the goal you want to reach after solving the conflict. The faster solved the better. Look at the situation from other peoples point of view Release all anger at the people against you and solve it calmly. List all the possible solutions and pick the solutions that will
give Cheerios’ the most attention.
We chose to go with the compromise because although we have to spend more money, we will get much more attention than doing just one.
