All certified individuals are required to submit 20 CEUs

every two-year cycle and submit an annual renewal fee!

• Are the responsibility of the certified individual• Invoiced in mid-October with a due date of

December 31• Current member fees

– One certification: $50– Two or more certifications: $100

• Current nonmember fees– One certification: $100– Two or more certifications: $150

Continuing Education UnitsContinuing Education Units

• 20 CEUs are required every two-year cycle• Submit CEUs beginning the year after you become

certified• At least 10 CEUs submitted per cycle must be

irrigation-related• No more than 10 CEUs per cycle can be submitted

from the green industry or business related classes (5 per year)

• No carry-over hours are allowed

Six Categories• Irrigation Training – Tier 1 – irrigation specific

courses (earn one CEU per one hour of attendance)

• Irrigation Training – Tier 2 – irrigation specific in-house training (earn .5 CEU per one hour of attendance)

• Irrigation Training – Tier 3 – green industry or business classes (trade shows) (earn .25 CEU per one hour of attendance)

• Irrigation Association Certifications – earn an additional IA certification (10 CEUs per certification)

• Irrigation Association Leadership Roles – serve on a IA board, IA affiliate state irrigation association board member, or state irrigation licensing board (5 CEUs per year max)

• Irrigation Educational Content Developer – write irrigation reference material or articles (2 CEUs per article or chapter)

• All CEUs should be documented• Keep certificates or other material to verify

attendance in a course• Keep badges and on-site programs from trade

shows to verify attendance, mark sessions that you attended

• All certified individuals may be audited and required to submit documentation of CEUs

• IACB audits 10% of certified individuals annually

• Landscape lighting courses• Pesticide application courses• Certifications from other organizations• Working your own company’s booth at a

trade show

How do I submit CEUs?How do I submit CEUs?

• CEUs should be submitted online on the IA website: www.irrigation.org/certification

• You must be logon to the IA website to access the submit CEU pages

• You can currently submit via fax or mail for a fee

of $25

What happens if I don’t renew?What happens if I don’t renew?

• Your certification will be suspended on February 1

• You will be notified by mail when this occurs

• You will not be listed in the online certified professional directory

• You will lose your certification!
