“I make pottery.

I am committed to the daily act of making beautiful objects and insistent about creating with my hands. A need for beautiful domestic objects and an instinctual drive to create things, are tremendous dance partners for idea and desire.”

Karen Swyler’s elegant porcelain ceramics are both understated and eloquent. While they may reference the vessel, their altering and pairing speak volumes about relationships.

And then there are artists who cross into sculpture…

Tim RowanRowan's boxes and sculptures suggest 'archaic' industrial forms that allude to modernity and to industrialized society, driven by capital, while also exploiting to the full the nature of the material he has sourced and the vagaries of his firing processes." ~ Edmund De Waal, artist, historian, critic

Beth Cavener Sticher

“There are primitive animal instincts lurking in our own depths, waiting for the chance to slide past a conscious moment. The sculptures I create focus on human psychology, stripped of context and rationalization, and articulated through animal and human forms. On the surface, these figures are simply feral and domestic individuals suspended in a moment of tension. Beneath the surface they embody the impacts of aggression, territorial desires, isolation, and pack mentality.”
