History

The Library started with a truck

called a Bookmobile that would come

to Cashton once a week. A group of

people wanted books more often, so

they raised money to start a library. The

Torkelson Library has been in Cashton

for 20 years. It has been in its current lo-

cation for five years.

5

Goods or Services?

Cashton Memorial Library is a service.

You can check out books and movies

to borrow and then return them. You

Photos and Captions

The librarian has story

time every week.

You should be quiet in

the library to respect

people who are reading.

There are children and

adult books to check out.

8

Using Math

The librarian uses math to help her

know how much money she can spend

on books. She also needs to know how

to figure out the fines when people

keep the books too long.

Reading and Writing

The librarian needs to be able to read

stories and she needs to be able to

read on her computer to find books for

customers. She has to be able to write

on her computer to order books and to

write letters.

What If You Worked Here?

You would need to know your ABC’s

and numbers to keep the books in the

right order. You need to be able to

read with expression when you read

stories to the children. You must be or-

ganized, friendly, and be a good

speaker.
