RENBROOK SCHOOL: A Day In the Life

Carter Hutchinson

a typical wednesday seen through the eyes of a renbrook student

Greeted by faculty, students head into Renbrook’s main entrance at 8:00 to start their day.

For the first few morning classes, students in freshman English jump back and forth between their classroom (shown top) and the library study classrooms to work in groups on their Greek Mythology project (shown bottom.)

After a few hours of classes, 11:30 brings lunch in the cafeteria. Ready to pan through Renbrook’s extensive lunch selections, hungry students run to grab a drink of water before picking up their tray.

For the lower school students, it’s time for recess. Climbing through jungle jyms, engaging in friendly basket-ball games, and swinging from the monkey bars. The 30-minute recess period can’t even be stopped by snow.

30 minutes isn’t enough for many students, as they’re having too much fun to head back to class. They all yearn for a minute longer on the playground.

Lucky students have their beloved extracuricular (STEAM) classes to end their day around 2. In gym, middle and lower school students are learning new tricks on Renbrook’s gymnastics equiptment. (pictured second)

For many of Renbrook’s athletes, after school time consists of sports games! At 4:55 the Hawks are ready to play bas-ketball in the gym, cheered on by their parents, peers, and faculty.

Many sports teams also allocate time for stu-dent-athletes to get some extra studying in before or after practice or a game. For those not playing on the court today, like the ski team, a study hall provides some welcome catch up time, and a view of Renbrook’s captivating quad.

Waiting for a parent to pick them up, Renbrook stu-dents have the opportunity to examine the astrolabe, the symbol of our school. An astrolabe is an ancient device used to explore the solar system. It represents the school’s hand in charting a course for our stu-dents to reach for the stars.

Before heading out, a Renbrook student takes a look over their shoulder at the beautiful campus they leave behind. It’s 6 o’clock; only 14 more hours til the day starts again bringing new challenges and thrills.

Renbrook school is a private education program based out of West Hartford for preschool to ninth grade stu-dents. I wanted to portray a typical day in the life of a Renbrook student, using the beautiful campus to entice prospective students and families. The story is told chronologically, starting and ending in the same place: the carpool line and main entrance. I hope that, when reading the captions and examining the pictures, viewers have a better understanding of what a Renbrook education offers and the facilities it uses to assist its students into being accepted into top secondary schools around New England.
