The Navajo tribe is settled in the southwest side of Canyon De Chelly.
Canyon de Chelly National Monument was authorized in 1931 by President Herbert Hoover.

This canyon located on the Navajo Nation that Canyon de Chelly National Monument overlooks Daylight Savings Time. From March through November the time is ONE HOUR AHEAD of Arizona. The Navajo Nation changes its time because the Navajo Nation is partly in New Mexico and Utah.
