- Welcome to the Polygon Classification Stand Alone Instructional
Resource (StAIR). This StAIR will define several terms that are
used to classify polygons. A five question quiz follows the
lessons.

- Slide 5
- Classification of Polygons By Sides Polygons are named by the
number of sides it has. 3 sides = triangle 4 sides = quadrilateral
5 sides = pentagon 6 sides = hexagon 7 sides = septagon 8 sides =
octagon 9 sides = nonagon 10 sides = decagon 12 sides = dodecagon
Examples
- Slide 6
- # of sides = 3 Triangle # of sides = 6 Hexagon # of sides = 5
Pentagon # of sides = 10 Decagon Go to Convex/Concave
- Slide 7
- Convex and Concave A polygon is convex if no diagonals from any
two vertices go outside the polygon. A polygon is concave is any
diagonal goes outside of the polygon. **An easy way to remember is
concave looks like a cave. Convex Concave Go to

- Slide 8
- Equilateral/Equiangular/Regular Equilateral all sides are the
same length. Equiangular all angles have the same measure. Regular
both equilateral and equiangular. Examples
- Slide 9
- Equilateral all sides are the same length. Equiangular all
angles are the same measure. Regular all sides are the same length
and all angles are the same measure.
