“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”
Rom. 8:9 NKJV
1 Pet.2:21-23
Left us an example - No Sin
No guile in His Mouth
Did not revile
He did not threaten
Deceit
= Verbal Abuse
Luke 23:34a “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”
Luke 6:29a NKJV “To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also”
Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister,”
John 13:14 “If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.”
Confusion about foot washing...Confusion about foot washing...
Some wash feet as worship
Never an act of worship
1 Tim. 5:10 “washed feet”
Act of service to fellow man
Humble attitude of serving
“Spirit of Christ”
“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;” Rom.12:10
“Be kind to one another with a brother's love, putting others before yourselves in honour;” B.B.E.
Phil. 2:8 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
Attentively listeningSubmissive
To heed or conform
Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
John 3:3-5 - Nicodemus was instructed to be born again if he expected to go to heaven.
Christ is the author of eternal salvation unto all that obey him.
Jesus said: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mk.16:15-16
To have the “Spirit of Christ” you must have his spirit of “Obedience”.
He expects us to be obedient to all his commands.
He teaches us that.... Faith, Repentance, Confession and
Baptism is essential to salvation. Some have a problem with baptism The same Bible teaches this also

If a person has the “Spirit of Christ” then they will be obedient.
Some have the idea they are doing God a favor when they obey.
Obedience is having the “Spirit of Christ.”
He left us an example of obedience.
Matt. 21:12-13 - overthrew the tables of the money changers
Matt. 23:33 – Denounced Pharisees
Some think Christ should not say such things.
View Christ as a lowly man with a weak character.
He was a man’s man.
He was not weak and undecided.
Jesus was a meek and lowly man
But he was also a Lion of Judah
He could denounce the Pharisees saying “You generation of vipers.”
Oppose error when people were violating His Father’s word.
Stephen – Acts 7 – had this spirit
Told them what their fathers had done ~ “ye stiffnecked”
They stoned him to death
“Lord, lay not this sin to their charge.”
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” Phil. 2:5
