Location-based Game using mobile web

• You are going to create an archaeology game• It will be for mobile phones – iPhone /

Android• It will be for children of around 9-10 years• It will be played over the course of a day• It will educate, inform, entertain!

• 3 years in Location-based Games• Started with Nokia phones and separate GPS• Created Fruit Farmer (PacMan like)• Created Treasure Hunt• Awarded most Awesome Use of Digital Tech• Grant with Brighton Uni for schools project

How We Work

• Now work with iPhone, Android + other smartphones (+ tablets)

• Using HTML5• That gives us built in location info• Using Canvas• No AppStore necessary• Just the web

Roll Your Own

• Pick an era – Iron Age, Medieval, Victorian, Modern (or a ship, or aircraft)

• In SketchUp, either– Look for an existing building– Create your own

• Manipulate, to create– Building parts (to dig up)– Floor plan -> GeoFizz

• Add to the catalogue – you will need a photo and some text (goes into Joomla! CMS)
