wide range of courses. The Steinbeis Business Aca-

combine theory with practice. During their studies
our students complete a company project, fully

Our two year Master programmes are international
programmes addressing core business disciplines
from a global perspective with an emphasis on
“General Management“. The programme is desig-
ned in English for students with work experience.
Six short stays in four countries help students to
expand their international network base. During
these stays, classes are taught in English by a facul-
ty from well-known universities around the world.
M.A. oR MBA?

Steinbeis Business Academy
The Steinbeis University believes strongly in a con-
cept we call the Project Competence Programme
(German: PKS). The key priority throughout: a
constant focus on business needs, underpinned by
a solid grounding in academic and scientifi c theory.
During their studies, participants work on live projects
at the company sponsoring their study. Their project
is subsequently implemented within the business.
This innovative concept goes way beyond con-
ventional degrees: projects are designed to facili-
tate integrated transfer, whereby the students gain
new skills during their studies and apply their new
knowledge in everyday business. Apart from lin-
king directly to vocational requirements, this opens
up new avenues to innovation, competitive advan-
tage and improved profi tability.
The projects off er added value for your company
e.g. cost savings or improvements in productivity.
They allow students to specialise in specifi c areas,
promoting their individual goals for the program-
me.

Subsequently the knowledge gained from
lectures during the study phases can be adapted
into the transfer papers, case studies and project
study paper (German: PSA). The project study
papers are project and company related, and are
a key tool for completing the project work. They
form an excellent basis for the Master‘s Thesis due
to the scientifi c approach used and the continual
development of the project in the workplace.

The following graphic demonstrates a possible way to integrate
project study papers in a real project at a company. The students
have to write fi ve PSAs from a scientifi c point of view in order to
address a business related issue. In this way the project is looked
at from every angle. Above all, the transfer of theory to practice
and the resulting added value become clear in the project study

Competence develops in time, from the focused application
of knowledge and theory to real business situations. In this
programme students acquire the competence they need to
become eff ective managers and leaders through the process
of applying what they learn and refl ecting on the outcomes in
their assessment papers.
Layer upon layer of management competence is created as
students complete the basic modules and specialised ma-
nagement subjects and gain invaluable experience of how to
eff ectively apply this knowledge. Of unique value are the over-
seas study phases where students deepen their intercultural
and social skills and competences.
