ALL AMERICAN LODGE 2003,04,08,09,10,11,12,13 BPO ELKS 2399
WAPITI WIND November, 2014
EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE: Temperatures, which are cool for full time residents, are warm for our winter visitors. Our reference point for cold or hot, is entirely different for those from around anyplace in
the U.S. or Canada. That is evident in the at-tire visitors wear when they are here. Some of us who are “Native-ized” by virtue of living
here for long periods of time, get cold in the fall. I still re-member, however, coming from Minnesota in 2002, how warm the 50’s feel when you are acclimated to below zero weather in the Midwest. This was just an observation from
an ER who loves it here. Being an Elk is a prideful duty for all of us. Our Grand
Exalted Ruler John Amen expresses it best by saying, “Elevate America” by the things we do so well. He also says to ‘be proud’ of our accomplishments, as we should be. You belong to the greatest non-profit organization in the USA and the most helpful to our youth with our Youth Activities programs, (of which we are very active in), like Soccer
Shoot, Hoop Shoot, Drug Awareness, Junior Golf and many activities our Chairman H. R. Radtke has brought to the table to make our youth direct their energy the USA way. Always keep in mind that we are ‘distinctively American’, and that is also why we are so proud to help our veterans in many ways. We will never forget them. NEVER. Youth however, is who will guide this country in the future,
and we must do our job to teach them that we care so much, we have developed the Elks National Foundation (ENF)
which provides more money for Scholarships than any enti-ty, other than the US Government. I have a goal in telling all of you this. The Lake Havasu
City Lodge #2399 has achieved the All American Lodge Award 8 times in the past 11 years. Only 6 are given to lodg-es each year by the Grand Lodge. That is SIX for the whole USA in a given year. We have earned that distinction by working hard and meeting the criteria set down by the Grand Lodge for the year. We can’t do this without the cooperation of the members, and we thank all of you very much for your support and
help. One of the things we must meet is an amount donated by each member to ENF. When our new members join us, we donate $10 in their name to ENF to start them off. If eve-
ry member donated just $10 once a year to ENF through
our office, I believe we can capture that prestigious award
again. By the way, you are not limited to $10. Any amount will help the noble work to which this order is known for. The great thing about ENF is that it is an endowment fund. Only the interest is used to provide scholarships and grants. Thus the slogan Elks Care, Elks Share comes into play. Be sure to check the calendar for events this November. A very fun night is CASINO NIGHT where you can play your favorite games and win prizes. It is always well attend-
ed with many Elks working the tables and games.

THANK YOU To all who have contributed to the Moving Forward board. We have
now collected over $32,000.00 to-ward paying down the mortgage on the lot. To join that elite group who already have their names on the board you have to merely donate at least $50.00. Hurry, don’t be left out!
Lap Quilts For Veterans Lap quilts should be approximate-
ly 40 by 35 inches in length and width. These quilts must be free of contaminates (such as: smoke, chem-icals, dog or cat hair, etc.) The hospi-tal has fairly stringent rules and may reject any quilts that do not fit the aforementioned criteria as they could
jeopardize the health of the patients.
Thank you for helping to make sure the quilts are safe and healthy for our veterans.
Please make sure the quilts are delivered to the Elks Office no later than Friday, November 28, 2014. Bud Watts Lodge Veterans Committee Chairman Bud Watts
Christmas Baskets Food Basket containers are conven-
iently located in both lodge entrances. Your help in contributing to this annual lodge event is solicited. Open your hearts and wallets to assist those down on their luck and help make Christmas a joy able occasion for them. Non-perishable food items are need-
ed to supplement the perishable food items provided by the lodge. Please, items with expiration dates or opened containers cannot be accepted. The lodge annually delivers more than 30 baskets to Havasu needy. These baskets provide each family with all the
“fixins” for a traditional Christmas din-ner, enough food for several extra meals and a new toy for each child. There will be a sign-up sheet in the office for those of you who wish to take
part in this heart-warming experience. With your help this year will be a hap-py Christmas for several needy Havasu
families. Delivery of the baskets will be on Saturday December 20th. You can reach me by phone 928-453-0370, or emlkw@hotmail.com Ed Wdowiak Lodge Trustee and Food Basket Chairman

Elkette Message:
Let me start out by saying Thank You to Gloria Flint, the Elks and Elkettes who helped to put together a marvelous Fashion Show and luncheon, and to the
PER’s who served 155 lunches. The guest were entertained by Grace Arts stage play “In the Woods”, and all the amazing styles worn by our Elkette
models. There were so many great gifts that were raffled off, and some were lucky to have won two raffle prizes. Thank you to all those who donated gift baskets and cro-
chet blankets for the raffles, your kindness never wavers. Once again to the committee who worked so hard on the Fashion Show, great job! Be sure to mark your calendars for the Craft Fair and Bake Sale, November 15 and so far it appears Jan Przysiecki has sold all the vendor booths. Don’t miss out buying some of your Christmas gifts early! The doors will
open at 8:00 a.m. and will close at 3:00 p.m. We’ll be col-lecting your bake goods Saturday morning at 7:00 if you’re inclined to help support the bake sale. Christmas Food Baskets, the barrels have been placed in both lodge entrances for your convenience. When dropping
off your food items Ed Wdowiak-Lodge Trustee and Food Basket Chair has asked that you remember to look closely to the expiration dates, as he will not be able to use items
that are expired. Also Rosalie Smith will be collecting Christmas gifts for the boys and girls at the Elkette meet-ings. Be sure to mark gender and age on the outside of the gift and be sure to get your raffle ticket for the drawing at our December Elkette meeting. The Kids Turn to Shop is scheduled for December 6 and Jane Sahno has started collecting NEW and LIKE NEW items for the kids shopping experience. You can
bring them to the meetings or call Jane at 928-680-6641 to get your donated items to her. The Christmas holidays are sneaking up on us fast. The
board and I, have started planning the Elkettes Christmas dinner/
dance for December 13th. Keep a look out for the flyers posted in
the lodge and through your emails for all the information and get your tickets early for there will be a cutoff date. I will make sure
you have ample time and information to purchase your tickets.
Next Elkette meeting will be November 11th, at 7pm. I look
forward to seeing most of our Elkettes back in town and active
once again with our fall and winter events.

Do You Remember Continued “I will not, directly or indirectly, use my membership in this Order, nor any emblem or insignia thereof for business or commercial purpose.
I will never introduce into the Order anything of a political or sectarian character,
nor in anyway by conduct bring reproach upon it.
I will always protect a member, their good name and their families and I will always respect and defend the purity and sanctity of their home and fireside..
If I break this Obligation, may I wander through the world forsaken; may I be point-
ed out as a being bereft of decency, unfit to hold communion with true and upright
members. And may god help me and keep me steadfast in this my solemn
and binding Obligation in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.”

LODGE CLUB NEWS
Elks Vagabonds RV Club Hi everyone, Our calendar is beginning to fill up for the upcom-
ing camping season. Our Wagon Mas-ter, Don Underwood is planning a local campout at Campbell Ranch in Novem-ber. Dates are still being worked out, but this will be a dry camping weekend that
will include a Festive Turkey Dinner. The club will supply the turkeys and everyone in attendance is asked to bring a side dish, salad, or dessert.
December 10th will be our annual Christmas Din-ner at the Lodge. If you have attended a campout during this year, you will be entitled to one free rib dinner. There will be no formal meeting….just come to socialize and wear your favorite holiday outfit. Of course, January will be our trek to Quartzsite during the RV Big Tent week. More information on
this outing as we get closer. Also in the works is a trip to Death Valley in No-vember 2015. We have done this outing in the past and had a wonderful time exploring the treasures of Death Valley. I hope many of you will join us on this great experience. We welcomed seven new members to our club
during the October meeting: Dan & Sandie Craven, Tom & Kay Depner, Don & Desmarerz & Cindy Murray, Bill & Katie Fitzgerald, Marty & Nina Gregerson, Billie Hatfield, , and Glen & Gail Stroh. Elks National Foundation (ENF) Report Your Elks National Foundation (ENF) annually returns to the State
Associations more than is donated from the membership. Support is received for the State Major Projects, Youth Activities, Veterans pro-grams, and Scholarships are just few of the programs sponsored by the ENF. Your donations go a long way in helping others in need. Each year the ENF generates more in scholarship funding than any organization save the federal government. Whenever you are in the lodge please try to make a donation of ten
dollars or more. Just drop it off in the lodge office. Our thanks to the following for their most recent donations: Robert Watts $300.00 ( he regularly donates 2 or 3 times each month), Marian Anderson $20.00, Jay Jacobs $50.00, Mike Murphy $50.00, Marilyn Webber $28.00.
