In 2010, BP is moving forward.But in moving forward, we should first reflect. The oil spill in the Gulf was many things to many people. To those who lost loved ones it was shock, anger, and grief. To the fishing industry it was loss of livelihood. To tourism: uncertainty. To the American public it was confusion and frustration.To volunteers: a summons. To BP—corporate crisis and unprecedented challenge. But we cannot speak of devastation without acknowledging the prevailing power of the human spirit. As individuals, as communities, and as a global entity, we have an undeniable ability to endure. The spill, in all its devastation, was an opportunity: the opportunity to think differently, to do differently, and to pave a better way forward. We are a force, in the face of challenge and heartache, capable of moving on.
