MIDDLEMUIR FLOCKR & P MACHRAY
The Middlemuir Flock was established in 1985 with the purchase of females from the Glenisla and Fyvie flocks. The emphasis has always been on producing great carcase animals first and foremost with good skins, colour and plenty of power. Over the years additions to the flock include purchases from varying flocks with the most influential females purchased from Fordafourie and Conveth. We have always strived to buy the best rams we can, notably, Cairness Masterclass, Cairness Musketeer and more recently, 25,000gns Rhaeadr Rolex, Cairness Dunkirk and 20,000gns Forkins Dizzee Rascal.
Although only a small flock, Middlemuir Suffolks have proven to breed time and time again with Middlemuir Winston being sire of 32,000gns Cairness Destiny and gsire of Deveronside ewe NAJ:L9 who has bred very well for Strathbogie and must be considered one of the best breeding females ever in the Suffolk breed. We have also bred the well known Middlemuir Messi who sired 17,000gns Cairness Diamond Geezer and is a prominent fixture in many of the top priced Cairness rams. The flocks biggest sale to date was for the 10,000gns Middlemuir Maserati who went to breed the 1st prize ewe lamb at the Royal Highland Show with his first progeny.
The flock has also been successful in the National Flock Competition, winning the John Long Cup on 3 separate occasions and Reserve Champion Flock in the National Flock Competition 2011. In the North East of Scotland we have also achieved Champion Flock on a number of occasions, indeed the gimmers we have brought for sale are all members of the team that won the best ewe lambs in the North East of Scotland Flock Competition 2018. We have ensured we have only put forward the best of stock and are positive that these sheep will go on to do well for whoever purchases them. We would like to thank those involved in allowing us to join this sale, in particular Mark Priestley and Iain Barbour and wish everyone well with the sale and their purchases.
