Books at the Harvard Depository have a life of their own

They live comfortably in the cold storage of the depository. But as each semester progresses, they migrate to the warmer lands of the University study carrels. (animation/clip: books

leaving the shelves)(sound: slightly lonely)

When the semester ends, all the books return home. (sound: triumphant homecoming?)

Many books in the depository are never requested(pan over different restrictions) (add’l clip: dust on boxes)

They stay on their shelves, growing old. (something to bring to mind ‘tiny books’ growing old (and big?))

Sometimes, books get restless. They want to see the rest of the depository, and maybe the world

beyond.

What would happen if a book slipped off the shelf and tried to make a new friend? (camera motion jumpy, like a kid, peering into random corners up to

the cubbies)

The less curious are content to look from their box and wonder what the

others are like. (imply criminal mystery: pan between them,

ominous sounds, maybe animated dream scene?)

The good thing about beeing a book, though, is that when you get bored of the view outside, you can always read the stories you contain. (zoom in to a

single book and its title, let it open.
