Yamaha’s new four-cylinder, four-stroke F200 is the lightest 200-hp four stroke on the market and can easily replace lower horsepower four-cylinder outboards and thereby increase the performance of mid-sized boats. At the same time, when used in twin applications, the new F200 can dramatically reduce overall weight on the transom.
Light Weight & Compact – The new F200 is the lightest 200-hp four stroke available. It is up to 119 lbs lighter than Yamaha’s V6 F200. It weighs just 14 pounds more than Yamaha’s two-stroke 200 HPDI outboard.
Acceleration – Like its Yamaha V6 Offshore siblings, the four-cylinder F200 is equipped with Yamaha’s (VCT) Variable Camshaft Timing System, which helps the outboard deliver quick acceleration and a strong midrange punch.
Powerful – The 2.8-liter, 16-valve DOHC powerhead breathes easy and responds quickly. Its valve train design is sophisticated, yet proven by millions of hours of use. The F200 has the most favorable power-to-weight ratio of any four-stroke 200-hp outboard.
Efficiency – It’s normally aspirated for less complexity and better fuel economy. Some com-petitor’s outboards require 92 octane fuel to develop 200 hp. The F200 runs best on 89 octane.
Versatile – The F200 is available with either digital electronic control or mechanical control. In addition, the F200 is just right for so many different kinds of boats: center consoles, pontoons, sport boats, bay and flats boats, deep V aluminum, and fish & ski, just to name a few.

Control – models are available with either digital electronic control or mechanical control. models with digital electronic control are compatible with Yamaha Command Link Plus,® rigging system and hardware for the utmost in control.▲ All F200 models can be rigged to external nmeA 2000® compatible displays or analog gauges using a gateway device. Both versions of the outboard are Y-COP® compatible.
Quiet – Yamaha’s SDSTm (Shift Dampener System) propeller hardware comes standard with the F200 for smoother, quieter, no clunk shifting. In addition, the outboard employs counterbalance shafts for vibration-free, quite running.

The F200 has many repower possibilities. It is a great replacement for older two stokes. not only is it light, but it’s narrow, at only 21.6 inches. It also has 26-inch mounting centers. In addition, it shares a bolt pattern with Yamaha’s two-stroke HPDI 200. It will fit a multitude of boat applica-tions. F200 mechanical control models can use a boat’s existing cable-type controls.

Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) allows the engine Control module to direct the Variable Camshaft Actuator to advance and retard camshaft timing based on the engine rpm. This increases the intake and exhaust efficiency in the low- and mid-rpm ranges. The result is an increase in torque in the 2,000 to 3,500 rpm range.
Air entering the engine block of a four-cylinder F200 outboard is routed through a single electronically controlled throttle valve. It works in concert with a long-track intake system and a resonator to improve throttle response. Precision multi-point fuel injection completes the package for delivering the optimum power and fuel efficiency.

Yamaha’s patented Shift Dampener System (SDSTm) greatly reduces the noise commonly associated with shifting gears. using a new design and components, much of the force of shifting is absorbed, resulting in far quieter and smoother operation. The F200 comes with the necessary hardware to specify a Yamaha SDSTm propeller.

F200F_Intake air draining system
: Air: Water
The F200 features a proven cowling drain system designed to efficiently drain away any water that enters the cowling during normal engine operation. Incoming air is routed through a labyrinth of passages that trap and drain water before it enters the engine’s intake. Corro-sion resistance is enhanced with Yamaha's exclusive YDC 30 aluminum alloy, ACP 221 paint process and electro-deposited powerhead paint process.
The new Yamaha F200 has a heritage of reliability. Its family tree includes the reliable Yamaha F150.
Reliability and Durability

Two F150 outboard motors, which each have more than 6,800 hours on them, have been the power behind Tim Boczon’s Grady White® 247 Advance and previously pro-vided the power for a 40-foot, 16,000-pound catamaran used by Charleston Water Taxi owners Scott Connelly and Chip Deaton to carry people across the Charleston Harbor. Knowing that they would need a powerful, reliable solution to transport people, they put their trust in twin Yamaha F150s. Almost seven years later and with 6,800 hours on each outboard, they’ve more than realized a return on their investment. Boczon, an avid offshore angler, repowered his Grady White® 247 Advance with the pre-owned F150s and immediately put them to the test again, dropping his boat in the Gulf of mexico off the coast of Freeport, Texas for various fishing excursions. “I traveled as far out as 25 miles and had no trouble whatsoever with the out-boards,” said Boczon. “The outboards always gave me a smooth performance and I never felt I had to compromise in terms of overall power. Yamaha’s technology is obviously built to last.”

ConvenienceWith 50 amps of total alternator output, the F200 provides a 13 percent increase in power compared to the V6 F200. Today’s boats need more charging power to accommodate the wide variety of on-board electronic devices. The alternator also offers high output at relatively low rpm.

Controlled by a Command Link Plus® digital display or a Command Link® tachometer, the operator can adjust the engine’s trolling speed from 650 to 900 rpm in 50-rpm increments. This helps provide precise and consistent trolling speeds in an array of conditions.
