Intake manifold non-return valve, remov-ing and installing (M60 engine)
– Disconnect negative (–) battery cable. See 020 Maintenance.
Remove plastic covers from top of engine.
• Pry out plugs (arrows) from covers. • Remove nuts and bolts from beneath plugs. • Lift off covers, removing center cover first.
Remove coolant expansion tank (A). See 170 Radiator andCooling System.
Working at rear of intake manifold:
• Remove vacuum hoses (A and B) and brake booster hose (C).
WARNING —Due to risk of personal injury, be sure the engine is cold be-fore beginning work on the intake manifold.
CAUTION —Prior to disconnecting the battery, read the battery disconnec-tion cautions given at the front of this manual on page viii.

Remove tube locking clip (arrow) and slide vent tube for-ward.
NOTE —Heater hoses shown removed for clarity.
Remove rear intake manifold non-return valve fasteners (arrows) and remove valve assembly.
NOTE —Do to restricted space at the rear of intake manifold, it may benecessary to use a short star drive bit with a wrench to accessand remove fasteners.
– Installation is reverse of removal.
NOTE —Always install new gaskets and seals.
