Therefore, TOClevels do not increase, the RO membrane surface doesnot become fouled by cell remnants and othermicroorganisms are not fed by cell fragments.

By controlling cell metabolism, BioGuard ACS™ inhibitsthe production of cell waste products which form thebiofouling matrix. By controlling both cell adhesion andmetabolism, this non-oxidizing method of controllingmicrobiological organisms reduces membrane cleaningrequirements and improves system performance.

BioGuard ACS™ is compatible with all membrane typesand system components ensuring product reliability on-line. It is also inherently stable in the presence ofmultivalent ions such as iron. BioGuard ACS™ may beapplied as an on-line continuous feed or as a periodichot-shot treatment.

BioGuard ACS™ is available as a powder which reducesshipping and handling by 96% and shipping volume by95%. It is also available in a liquid super-concentrate(BioGuard ACS SC™) which provides the convenienceof a liquid yet reduces shipping/handling by 90%.BioGuard ACS™ and BioGuard ACS SC™ may also beintroduced from the same injection point as any PWTantiscalant/dispersant, facilitating dual productapplication.

BioGuard ACS™ and ACS SC™ are the first antimicro-biological pretreatments that comply with ANSI/NSFStandard 60 requirements for potable water systems.
