Scheduling

1. Decide if your child works better in the morning, afternoon, or evening.2. Schedule the hardest subjects during your child’s most productive times.3. Experiment with frequent short breaks vs. fewer longer breaks.4. Decide if a traditional or a block schedule would work best for your child.5. Always try a schedule for three weeks before you give up on it.6. Children feel much more secure if there is routine and predictability in their lives.

Encouragement and MotivationPositive encouragement is one of the most powerful tools you can use to motivate your child.

Make comments specific to the individual child and take out the element of competition with others.

Doing something one way and not being successful is another thing learned; don’t consider it failure.
