REPORT ON ANNUAL SPORTS DAY 2016-17 FOR GRADE-VI TO X
There was excitement in the air. The collective heartbeats of hundreds could be heard.
The ground was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere at the venue
B.P.Ed ground on 28th & 29th January 2017 as it was National Public School, Kengeri,
Bangalore’s first Annual Sports Meet.
The programme began with the lighting lamp and invocation song. The chief guest,
Sri. K.P. Gopal Krishna, the founder chairman NPS Group of Institution graced the
occasion. Sri V. Somanna, the Member of Legislative Council was the Guest of Honour.
Along with them were the Chairperson Mr. Avinash H.E, Secretary Smt. Divya. B.S, VSS
Chairman, Sri Naveen and Principal NPS, Kengeri, Mrs. Geeta Dikshit were the other
dignitaries who graced the occasion.
Principal speaking on the occasion urged everyone to run, their own marathon of life
choosing the righteous path.
The chief guest in his address said students and teachers must update and keep abreast
with the changing scenario.
The chief guest hoisted the flag signalling the start of the Sports Meet. After the inspection
of the four houses NICON, MAXIMS, REGULUS AND PERICLES by the Chief Guest, the
March Past and Oath Taking Ceremony followed. The oath was administered by Master
Dhruv Mangesh of Grade X, the sports Captain and the students solemnly pledged to
uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship. The Chief Guest declared the meet open and then
followed the arrival of the torch.
The students displayed a wide array of colourful and reverberant events such as Band
Display, Hula Hoops, yoga and pyramid, Aerobic dance(Boys), contemporary dance and
Aerobic Dance (Girls). The displays mesmerized the audience with the energetic
performances.
This preceded the track and field events - 100m running race (Boys and Girls), 200m
running race (Boys and Girls), 400m running race (Boys and Girls), 4 X 100m Relay (Boys
and Girls) and Shot put (Boys and Girls).
These events, for students under the category 12 years, 14 years and 16 years, were
conducted to keep the sportsman spirit alive among the students. The day was filled with
exciting victories and near misses for all the houses.
The guests, dignitaries, guardians and teachers were highly pleased at their performance.
The winners were awarded medals and certificate by the chief guest, dignitaries, principal
and coordinators.
The Rolling Trophy for the leading house was bagged by Nicon. The best athlete for the
year 2016-17 was adjudged. They were Master Shishir Biddappa, Master Mayur .C and
Kumari Ashwikaa .B.
The day ended with a cheerful note, heralding the year 2016-17, also filled with promises
for all the young sports enthusiasts.
