NEWSLETTER Autumn 2014
We’re expanding! The SWALLOW Community Cafe is
delighted to announce it is expanding
and as of the 6th November will be
open on Thursdays for lunch.
Last month the SWALLOW cafe
welcomed the Somer Valley Cycling
Club for lunch. This was a great
opportunity for the SWALLOW
members to put their training into full
swing and help encourage new
cyclists. The afternoon was a great
success and we all look forward to
welcoming the club back.
A great day for a BBQ To celebrate the success of the
Hawthorns Garden Makeover, the
tenants and staff put on a BBQ to
thank all of those who helped to
transform the outdoor space. See
page 6 for more info and photos.

well for their first time playing
matches; we won 1 game & lost 5,
some of the games were close &
could have gone either way. Dan
Bates scored our only goal, Paul
Davis was a rock in defence & Mark
Pearce made some good saves in
goal
the guys are looking forward to their
next tournament on November 9th”

sunny season, and have managed to produce lots of salad, vegetables,
herbs and fruit as well as an abundance of flowers in hanging baskets and
tubs. The members were invited to a Civic Reception where they were
awarded with a South West in Bloom 5 rating for ‘Outstanding’.
‘We went with Maggie to the celebration
reception evening in Midsomer Town Hall to
collect our certificate. We were treated to
sparkling wine and nibbles, given lots of
daffodil bulbs to plant, and had the chance
to talk to many people from other gardening
groups. It was a brilliant evening.’
