Audi LED Headlight Design

Audi has first successfully debut Audi R8 in the movie Iron Man, this slick designed

coupe brought worldwide attention, Because It is the first car to introduce LED headlights.

Many high end car manufacturers include Audi themselves sees how popular

demanding these designs are, so they adopt these headlights for their high end vehicle.

This article shows you the evolution of the LED headlights evolved throughout the years

and how they’ve been designed.

Examples as led turn signal lights, led Daytime driving lights, and led projector

headlight.

The LED Headlight

Ever since Audi introduced the LED headlight it creates a huge marketing for both original

manufacturer and aftermarket.

Automotive manufacturer saw the opportunity to improve their own vehicle

with the LED features, which add luxurious and expensive appear at very low cost.

LED bulbs are very power efficient compare to halogen bulbs.

LED Headlight and Driving During the Day

LED daytime driving light was a game changer for Audi; they applied to most of

their best selling models once they saw the consumer demand for the LED daytime

driving lights.

LED daytime driving lights served their purpose much like a fog light, which produce amounts of light for the incoming traffic so

they can see you in daytime or fogs.

Soon after most of the high end automotive manufacturer starts to redesign their

headlight using all LED parts.

Replacing the halogen signal bulb with LED signal bulbs and most of the LED signal

lights are combined with daytime driving light.

The daytime driving light turns off when the signal light is on, so the daytime driving

wouldn’t overpower the signal lights.

And eventually LED is replaced the main part of headlights, and it’s now called jewel

projector headlights.

The headlight uses high powered LED with multiple small projectors for the maximum

amount of Lumens brightness with low wattage power.

The Future of the LED Headlight

I believe one day the LED will replace all traditional halogens light source for LED provide much higher brightness with low

amount power, on top of all LED life cycle is much longer than halogen.

It is very interesting to see how these technologies will evolve in the future and

what will be the next design of the headlight.
