AUC New Cairo was designed and built to
reflect the University’s mission to make significant
contributions to Egypt and the international
community, and to build a culture of leadership and
service among its graduates. Since its founding in
1919, the University envisioned a suburban campus
as its future home and in 2008, the University
realized its dream and opened its new state-of-the-
art campus in New Cairo. The campus represents a
$400 million investment in the future of Egypt and
the region and ensures that AUC has the facilities
and resources it needs to build on its tradition of
academic excellence.
Winding paths and expansive courtyards on a
technologically advanced and spacious 260-acres
provide students and faculty with unmatched
resources in research, academic programs and
recreational facilities. AUC New Cairo also houses
a world-class indoor and outdoor sports complex,
featuring one of the most advanced facilities in the
region, and a Campus Center, which offers students
an ideal environment for study and recreation.
Fully accredited in Egypt and the United States,
AUC links Egypt and the region to the world
through scholarly research, study-abroad programs
and partnerships with academic and research
institutions. Through its six schools, AUC offers
more than 34 undergraduate programs and 30
graduate programs to nearly 7,000 undergraduate
and graduate students. AUC’s faculty is comprised
of more than 380 professional and dedicated
scholars, who hold advanced degrees from leading
universities around the world. In addition, the AUC
Library is the largest English-language library in the
region, housing an impressive research collection in
an array of disciplines.
AUC’s historic downtown campus, which has long
served as a major contributor to the cultural and
intellectual life of Egypt, will continue this tradition
in concert with AUC New Cairo — hosting important
public speakers, serving as a venue for the
discussion of pressing issues and creating a safe
space for young scholars to explore the complex
political, social and cultural dimensions of their world.
