The 6.7 release of Symyx Notebook introduced the Home Page, a landing spot to help users orient themselves and get going on their work. Like the Google or Yahoo homepages, the Symyx Notebook Home Page presents different content areas, also known as “widgets”, several of which are delivered out-of-the-box: one for creating new experiments, another for tracking work in progress, and an inbox widget for messages sent through the notebook. In this session, we will begin with a quick overview of the Home Page, and then dive into the administrative aspects of how to configure the Home Page to maximize its usefulness to your user communities. The development of custom widgets will also be touched on, to whet your appetite for the upcoming session on that topic.
