We do not have to dwell on the fact that the world has changed immeasurably since the summer of last year. Prescribed ways of thinking and acting have been severely challenged and many no longer apply in these unprecedented times. Governments, companies and individuals are in survival mode as bastions of banking have failed and industry icons are teetering on the edge. Many blame the economic downturn and the global financial crisis on failures of governance. Regardless, it will be leadership, in all its forms, that will ensure our short-term survival and a sustainable future.
