"Aren’t you stealing from the patentholders of the medication, when you makeit yourself?

No. You are violating their copyright, yes; and at best you might be decreasingtheir profits if you were making ityourself instead of buying it from them. However anyone who is sufficientlydesperate that they build an ApothecaryMicroLab, and synthesize their own drugsis clearly in a situation where they wouldnot be able to afford to buy themedication in the first place. Hence, itdoesn’t really have an effect on thepharmaceutical industry at all. It wouldbe a dead patient, who had died becausethey couldn’t afford the medication vs. alive patient who copied their idea forpersonal use.

Isn’t that illegal, though?

Yes. However if the choices presented toyou are to die, because you cannot affordmedication, or violate a copyright, whichwould you choose? We believe it is a justact of civil disobedience to produce one’sown medications in violation of patentlaw. If the medical infrastructure wereable to function as it was imagined, theninsurance systems would be in place to payfor medications, and there would be noneed for this technology. We applaud thecitizen groups, and the politicians allover the world who have been working to
