We Crave Physical Light

We Run Away From Darkness

Yet, We Run TO Spiritual Darkness

Proverbs 1:16, “their feet run to evil”

They Love Darkness

• 1 John 1:5, “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”

• John 8:12, “I am the light of the world, He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

They Love Darkness

• 1 Thessalonians 5:5, “You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.”

• John 1:5, “darkness did not comprehend it.”

They Practice Evil

• 3:19, “because their deeds were evil.”

• “were” is continual.• “evil” – actively evil. • 3:20, “practicing

evil.”• “evil” means

worthlessness.

They Don’t Want to be Exposed

Can You See in the Dark?

because they are walking in darkness.• A bug doesn’t know the benefits of cleanliness

because it is unnatural to him.• There is so much goodness that a person

immersed in darkness cannot see.

• We are blind to all that is great without Christ. • Righteousness is unnatural to those living in

darkness, so they refuse to see.• They do not see the true value of things.• They do not see what is good and possible in

people.• Their world is hopelessly miserable.
