Seaport, by Protea Waterfront Development (PWD), is viewed as a legacy project by three San Diegans
driven by the belief that great design can support community.

The thoughtfully planned components include expanded park and public space, a curated shopping and
dining initiative and a public market that will bring new vitality to the waterfront and downtown 365 days a
year. There will also be a hospitality core boasting a “public living room” with multiple new and fresh hotel
concepts accessible to all travelers. Education is a major component with a marine-focused charter school
and continuing lifelong education initiatives. Smithsonian Media is an important collaborator who will be
taking their world renowned exhibits outside museum walls (ideal in San Diego’s climate) with an immersive
Augmented and Virtual Reality experience that will educate, entertain and drive tourism. Essential to San
Diego’s health-and-wellness ethos, Seaport will feature water sports, an outdoor gym, beach volleyball as
well as an Olympic-size, fresh-water lap pool at the G Street Mole. And of course there will also be the simple
pleasures of just sitting on one of our beaches, exploring our tide pools or strolling along the expanded
esplanade. Added to this are the anchor attractions, including a state-of-the-art aquarium and an iconic spire

leading to the water, boat docks, ferries, light rail connections and city shuttle bus stops all designed to

The public realm consists of 32 acres of open space with parkland, a baywalk as public art, an entertainment
harbor, retail courtyards and public roof gardens to maximize public engagement with the water. This is
supported by a boutique hotel, a performance hall, shops and restaurants to create a daytime, nighttime and
weekend attraction. We are committed to both a smart touch savvy master plan that is sustainable and will
have a gold LEED equivalent.
