New ABF Classes: “The Shack” and the Gospel – 1 Session Adult Class April 2nd only The recent release of the film The Shack, reminds us how creative arts touch our hearts and minds. Some of you have seen the movie or interact with others who will. This Sunday we’ll look at the observations the movie makes, the questions it raises, and how the Bible can inform our interaction about it. Led by Pastor Jim in Room 029E downstairs.
“Can we trust the Jesus story?” April 9-May 14 Every spring the media raises fresh questions about the “real” Jesus. It asks great questions about the gospel accounts. This 4-study class (April 9 – May 14 in Room 029E in lower level) will take an honest look some of these questions. The goal is to equip you to face the questions that sometimes come to your mind as well as the questions that friends or neighbors might ask about the “real” Jesus. Led by Pastor Jim. We will explore ques-tions such as: How did we get the gospels? Did oral transmission distort the truth about Jesus? Why do we have four gospels? Do the gospels contradict each other? Do the miracles undermine the truth of the gospels?
“Women - Explore, Engage, Pray!” April 23rd only Women, join us as we explore the prayers of the New Testament, seeing God’s heart for the church and be-yond. Learn how to pray scripture in this engaging, interactive experience. Welcome all women of the church!
Connect with others in our life groups! We have a number of life groups at Harvest that and have room for more individuals or couples. If the Spirit has been prodding you to stop procrastinating and check out a life group, this is a perfect time. You can see all our groups on our website at harvestefree.org, check out the brochure in the main hallway, or con-tact Pastor Jim.
SCHEDULE
Church family, this coming summer we all will have an opportunity to be a part of something new and exciting! With varying vacation schedules and the need to grant our beloved Sunday School teachers a break, the elders thought it best to have only one worship service and one ABF class which is open to the entire family (so parents, please bring your kids!). Pastor Steve will be leading us through 12 foundational lessons to help each of us connect with God in a more lasting and sustainable way.
We’ll also equip each other to help others connect with God as well. The goal during this ABF time is to fellowship together, pray together, and have a brief time of learning together, with tangible application for all family members. Each participating family will receive a “Connecting With God” workbook, which will be the basis of our lessons. Prayerfully it will be an opportunity for kids and adults to learn from each other and together grow in our individual journeys with Jesus.
The summer sermon series will also correspond directly with this ABF class. Beginning Sunday June 4 (through August 27), the one Sunday morning ABF class will run from 9-9:45 am followed by the one worship service from 10-11:15 am. We will resume our 2 service format (and children’s Sunday School classes) in early September. Please contact the church office (office@harvestefree.org ) or Pastor Steve (steve@harvestefree.org ) for further questions or suggestions.

BABY TALK BLANKET PROJECT (One of HIS projects)
COVERING BABIES WITH WORDS…FOR LIFE
Baby Talk Blanket Project Mission
To reach babies and parents with the love of Christ by providing blankets that elic-
it language, enhance parent-child interactions and children’s neurological develop-
ment during the first 3 years.
To provide support for the architecture of the child’s brain in order to enhance
their potential to understand truth and ultimately enter into a life giving, redemptive
relationship with Jesus Christ.
Strategies
Distribute blankets through family support home visiting programs that serve families with infants. These families are typically low-income or have other risk factors.
Distribute blankets through other venues/services for families with risks.
Distribute blankets through missions work when appropriate.
Pray for infants and families as we make and distribute blankets.

Rapid Action Team for Shelters (RATS)
Did you know that Harvest E. Free Church is a designated emergency shelter? In the event of an emergency or disas-ter in Story City, Harvest E. Free is one of two facilities
that serves the Story City community. The Story County Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross are partnering in a new program to train local citizens to learn how to open and set-up the emergency shelters until the Red Cross arrives. The program is called “Rapid Action Team for Shelters” (RATS). When the shelter needs to be activated, the RATS will unlock the building, turn on the lights, turn on the heat or AC, start the coffee, re-ceive and set up lightweight cots, welcome and register people who need the shelter. Thank you to Gina Crisman, Steve Frykholm, Shalin Kowalke, Warren Straszheim, Jess and Stacy Robinson, and Don and Patty Walters for volunteering to be a part of this team and minister to the community in such a tangible way!

ONLINE GIVING
Jesus calls his followers to cultivate a spirit of generosity. It’s a mark of the one who gave everything for us!
Generously giving our time, our abilities, and our money to Jesus and his work sets us apart from the world.
If you’ve never given financially to Harvest online, here is an outline of the process.
1. Click on the Give tab on the website.
2. If you have never given through our website before, you will see a signup screen. Fill in the information.
You do not have to give in order to sign up with an email and password.
3. Once you have signed up, you can move to the giving screen at that time or any time in the future.
4. For one-time giving, you can pick where the funds will go in the drop down box.
5. You can also choose how to give.
6. You can set up scheduled giving as well.
Thank you in advance for partnering with Harvest!
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for
God loves a cheerful giver. 1 Corinthians 9:7
