LANDOWNER NOTIFICATIONS

Dear Sir/Madam PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT OF THE N7, SECTION 2 BETWEEN ROOIDRAAI (KM 7.49) AND MOORREESBURG (KM 33.90): NOTIFICATION OF COMMENCEMENT OF APPLICATIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION AND WATER USE AUTHORISATION AND OPPORTUNITY TO REGISTER AS AN INTERESTED AND AFFECTED PARTY This letter provides information on the commencement of applications for Environmental Authorisation and Water Use Authorisation for the above-mentioned project. SLR Consulting (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd (SLR) has been appointed by JG Afrika (Pty) Ltd, on behalf of the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL), to undertake the environmental authorisation processes for the proposed project. An Application for Environmental Authorisation is required in terms of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations 2014 (as amended) promulgated under the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA),as amended. Water Use Authorisation is required in terms of Section 21 of the National Water Act, 1998 (No. 36 of 1998). The proposed improvements for this 26.41 km stretch of the N7 would mainly entail the provision of additional climbing/passing lanes and widening the road and associated infrastructure in certain areas. The existing carriageway would be widened to the following cross-sections:

• Where no climbing lanes are provided: two 3.7 m-wide lanes and two 3.5 m-wide shoulders (3.0 m surfaced); • Where a climbing lane is provided on one side only: a 1.5 m-wide shoulder (1.0 m surfaced) with 3.5 m-wide slow

lane and 3.7 m-wide fast lane. The side without the climbing lane would have a 3.7 m-wide lane and a 3.5 m-wide shoulder (3.0 m surfaced); and

• In instances where climbing lanes are constructed on both sides: each side would have a 1.5 m-wide shoulder (1.0 m surfaced) with a 3.5 m-wide slow lane and a 3.7 m-wide fast lane.

Sight distances at existing sub-standard accesses would be improved where appropriate. It is also proposed that solid reinforced concrete deck widening be undertaken at all four bridge structures located along this stretch of road. Furthermore, six major culverts along the route would be lengthened. Various ancillary works would also be undertaken as part of the proposed project, such as the installation of concrete-lined side drains with subsoil drains, replacement of minor culverts and resurfacing of intersections with provincial roads and major farm accesses. In accordance with the EIA Regulations 2014, as amended, you and/or your organisation are hereby invited to register as an Interested and Affected Party (I&AP) and provide input on the proposed project. 33.90): NOTIFICATION OF AVAILIBILITY OF A DRAFT BASIC ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR REVIEW AND COMMENT

Our previous correspondence of 30 April 2019 regarding the above-mentioned project refers. This letter provides information

on the availability for review and comment of the draft Basic Assessment Report (BAR) prepared for the proposed project.

Notice is hereby given that the draft BAR, prepared in terms of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (as

amended, has been released for a 30-day review and comment period from 18 October 2019 to 18 November 2019 and

again from 04 November to 04 December 2019 . Copies of the report have been made available at the following locations:

The SLR website (www.slrconsulting.com/za);

Moorreesburg Library; and

SLR’s Cape Town offices.
