Under-utilized Areas of NotarizationsBody Tattoos for Minors

• Body piercing, a form of body art, is the act of penetrating the skin to make, generally permanent in nature, a hole, mark, or scar. It does not include the use of a mechanized, pre-sterilized ear-piercing system that penetrates the outer perimeter or lobe of the ear or both.

• In 1999, the Florida Legislature passed section 381.0075, Florida Statutes , providing guidance for operation of the body-piercing industry. Chapter 64E-19, Florida Administrative Code (40 kb PDF) contains the rules that were written to implement the statute.

FACT – MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT AN APOSTILLE IS UNTIL THE DAY THEY NEED ONE

© 2018 National Notary Association

OVERVIEW OF YOUR

DISTINCTIVE AREA OF BUSINESS

WHAT IS AN APOSTILLE? Apostille is a French word meaning “certification”. An Apostille is the name for a specialized certificate issued by the U.S. Secretary of State to be used in a foreign country. “Apostilles do not certify the content of the public document to which it relates. They do not grant authority and they do not give any additional weight to the content of the underlying documents.” (Maryland Sec. of State)

As an Apostille Agent you will travel the world without leaving your desk.

CONNECTION WITH NOTARY PROFESSION

Although it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended that to be an Apostille Agent you are also a Notary Public for the following reasons:

• You are aware of Notary Public laws of your state;

• The majority of the documents you receive will require notarization;

• You are more than likely able to recognize improper documents; and

• You will be aware of the general requirements of the Secretary of State in which you reside and know how to obtain information from other states.
