Where is Gallipoli?
• Gallipoli is located on the eastern part of Turkey on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Gallipoli is where World War ll took place.
Why are there ANZAC biscuits?
There are ANZAC biscuits because, when men left for war, their wives and mothers were very concerned about the food they'd have to eat. So they decided to make a special healthy biscuit that lasts long and that is tasty using ingredients such
as rolled oats, sugar, butter, coconut and golden syrup. They were actually first called soldier
biscuits but after landing in Gallipoli, they were renamed
ANZAC biscuits.
Why do poppies symbolize Anzac day?
• Because when world war 2 was over, poppies were the first flowers to grow in the areas where we fought.
• Horses
• Donkeys
• Mules
• Camels
• Dogs
• Pigeons
• canaries (used in the tunnels under the trenches in WW1)
• Falcons/hawks (to get the pigeons)
• Bullocks
• Cats (keep the rat population down)
• elephants (in Thailand, during WW2)
