Antiquity Girly costume turns sleek chic: a reminder of the past

This specific portfolio presentation is a small, but important, piece of who I am. Starting with my childhood memories of dancing around in pink dresses that “spin well” and wearing old ballet recital clothes, I wanted to design a line that would bring me back to the little girl I was. Pink lace, plum chiffon, and golden detailing combined with fancy drapes as seen in ancient Roman and Greek costume and geometric lines of their architecture are the foundation of this line. Moving from costume to a more day wear, grey knits and denim tone down the costume feel. Photos, jewelry and clothing are all originally designed and hand made. This demonstrates all aspects of my creative process from a single memory, to an interest in antiquity blended to form playful and girly costumes and ready to wear clothing. It is a showcase of my passion for art and art history, fashion and fashion photography, creating, developing, evolving and changing ideas, and lastly the urge for a youthful life and to always be young at heart.
